Clothes That Protect The Soul

Clothing is a protective shield for our bodies. We wear clothing (often called active wear) to protect us from major weather elements such as the wind, rain, snow and sun. We need this type of protection through clothing because skin is the largest organ of our bodies and human skin is very sensitive to harsh elements. We know this because if we’re exposed to the elements without our protective clothing, we’ll catch a cold, flu, or some other illness. There is also active wear clothing that is specifically designed for our protection in difficult, uncomfortable, and extreme circumstances.

Gear Up For Fire Safety

Fire Fighters have one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet. Every time the fire siren goes off, they put on their protective gear and head for a location of disaster - a fire. Fire fighters wear protective clothing specifically designed to keep their bodies and face protected. Head gear is worn to keep their eyes, ears, and nose protected as well as protect them from smoke inhalation.

Turnouts or Bunker Gear is the usual protective clothing of firefighters. Turnouts are named such because when not in use, they are kept ready to put on quickly by ‘turning out’ the pants over the boots. The firefighter simply steps into the boots and pulls the pants up. Firefighters are typically expected to be able to put on all of their equipment in about one minute. The heavily insulated turnouts can be uncomfortably hot to wear, but keep the extreme temperatures of a fire away from the fire-fighter’s body. Structural turnouts will fail at approximately 1200°F (650°C).

Turnouts consist of a coat, pants and suspenders, leather or rubber waterproof boots, a hood, a strong helmet with eye protection, gloves, a belt, and SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). When fully dressed, a firefighter will be wearing about 70lbs (32kg) of gear, not including any additional tools being carried.

The Police

Police are confronted with danger more often these days than ever before because crime is everywhere and on the rise in some areas. Police have the tendency to always be alert even on their so called ‘days off’ because crime can happen anywhere and anytime. In certain circumstances the police need special protective gear, namely, when a riot occurs.

Riding Like The Wind

Motorcycles are a smooth way to ride. People who ride motorcycles are usually uninhibited. They love the freedom of the ride, the wind in their hair and the feel of the warm sun guiding them to their destination. Although motorcycles can be an enjoyable way to travel, they can also be quite dangerous when protective motorcycle gear is not worn.

Helmet

A helmet is required in some states and is possibly the most important protective gear to wear while riding a motorcycle. A helmet is used to protect your head from injury.

Eye wear

A good pair of sunglasses or goggles are part of the essential gear and a pair of clear lenses to wear at night is also helpful for protecting the eyes from debris.

Jacket

A Jacket should be appropriate for the weather and provide protection in case of a fall. The Cortech DSX Denim Jacket has a thick zip-out liner and armor in the shoulders and elbows. It can be worn between 70 degrees and freezing. The Tour master Intake Air Jacket can be worn in temperatures from 50 degrees to 120 degrees. It also has armor and a zip-out lining. These jackets are very versatile and can be worn for extended trips.

Pants

Wearing skirts and dresses while riding a motorcycle may look romantic in a movie but pants are essential for riding a motorcycle because it protects the legs. There are several pants to choose from. You just pick the style best for you. http://www.best-motorcycle-gear.com/motorcycle-pants.html

Gloves

Full fingered gloves are good to wear at all times. Keep an extra pair handy just in case you need them. Whether full gauntlet thermal gloves or fiber mesh gloves, wear the most appropriate pair for riding and weather conditions at the time.

Footwear

There are many great choices for riding boots. The important thing is that they cover your ankles and have non-skid soles. A properly fitted pair of riding boots is a great investment. Pick the right pair and they can be used for everyday wear on your trip, eliminating the need for a second pair.

Rain Gear

No one likes to get drenched by rain while riding, so a simple rain suit will eliminate that problem. Look for one that’s right for you.
